Changes to the PBS general co-payment

To help Australian residents manage their health amid rising household costs, the Government has made a change to the PBS general co-payment.

To ease the cost of everyday medications, the Australian Government has lowered the PBS general co-payment amount for subsidised medications to $25.00, effective 1 January 2026. The amount was previously $31.60.

While this won’t affect your Pharmacy benefits, it could have an impact on the cost of some of your medications.

To help you navigate this change, we’ve included some questions below.
