Why did you join Health Partners?

I joined Health Partners back in 2011 and was seeking an opportunity to make use of technical skills I developed through study with TAFE-SA, and was seeking to begin a career in a growing industry that I was (and still am) passionate about.

What team do you work in and what is your current role?

I am the Senior Helpdesk Officer in the ICT Department and I look after helpdesk requests, investigate and implement of new systems to support the various business areas of Health Partners, and work with pretty much anything in the business that runs on electricity (bar the lighting and plumbing systems). I am also expanding my skills by learning about IT infrastructure management related activities from our in-house Infrastructure Engineer, with the hopes of progressing up into this or a similar role within Health Partners in the future.

What inspires you to do things The Right Way?

I have been brought up to have a very empathetic attitude towards others, and a key philosophy that I hold for everyday life is the “Golden Rule” of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. I see this as a way of ensuring things are done correctly to the best of my ability in the first instance, so as not to cause inconvenience or problems to others, and to ensure that responsibility of these actions remain my own.

What do you enjoy the most about working with Health Partners?

The relaxed and positive culture of our people in interacting with each other is the best part of working at Health Partners. After almost ten years, I have found that the relationships built with colleagues are all unique across the various areas of the business, however no matter the person, everyone is always happy to have a chat, lend an ear about a problem, or help with a project in the pipeline to make each other’s working day smoother and more enjoyable.

What’s one thing you enjoy outside of Health Partners?

I enjoy playing video games in my spare time. I also enjoy cooking and baking, as well as spending time with my wife and our dog at the local park to unwind after a long day.

Why did you join Health Partners?

I was looking for a new work opportunity in Adelaide and had undertaken previous consulting work. The role and work on offer looked challenging, stimulating and appealing to me and I wanted to be based in the Adelaide CBD.

What team do you work in and what is your current role?

I work in the Business Intelligence team as the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst. I lead the team in triaging, prioritising, performing solution architecture and development and support and mentor BI team members and our Health Partners colleagues.

What inspires you to do things The Right Way?

I have always loved and enjoyed the art of turning data into insight and when done “the right way” the results can be profound. Decision making becomes easier, faster, better. These measurable improvements lift everyone who is touched by them, even those who are not directly connected to the piece of work.

The motto “Do the Right Thing” has always resonated with me as when faced with a choice of doing something, I have always tried to do the right thing.

What do you enjoy the most about working at Health Partners?

I can genuinely say I enjoy the people and the work. To a person, from the day I started at Health Partners, everyone I have come across at Health Partners have been pleasant, positive, supportive and respectful. It is in my top two workplaces of my career for having a positive employee work culture and environment.

What’s one thing you enjoy outside of Health Partners?

My favourite pastime is gardening and I spend most daylight hours and some in the dark working in our home garden. The simple pleasure of getting one’s hands dirty, seeing something grow from seed, to flower and then fruit gives reward to the effort invested, with the benefits of fresh air, exercise, appreciation of nature and some healthy eating additions to our family meals
