At Health Partners Dental we recommended to visit your dentist once or twice a year, however your dentist will recommend how often you should have a routine checkup.
What happens at a routine checkup
During a check-up your dentist will examine your teeth and gums for signs of tooth decay, gingivitis, and other health problems. They will also clean and polish your teeth whilst talking to you about caring for your teeth and gums properly at home. Your check up may also involve X-rays, fluoride treatment and fissure seals.
An important part of every visit is updating your medical history, even if you don’t think it relates to your mouth. Many diseases can affect your mouth and teeth so make sure that talk you your doctor about any changes and let them know if you are taking any medications. To assist in your dental care, please complete a patient history form. You can download the form here and bring the completed form to your appointment or can complete it at the time of your appointment.
If you dentist find any problems, they will recommend steps to fix them. These may include setting another appointment, or a referral to a specialist.
We recommend you discuss the cost of your treatment with the specialist.
