Private Health Cover and COVID-19


Yes. You’re covered for all COVID-19 related claims on all Health Partners Hospital cover irrespective of the terms of that policy, at no extra cost.

This includes lung and chest, kidney and bladder, and dialysis for chronic kidney failure, if you’re admitted to hospital and the conditions are linked to COVID-19.

A 12-month waiting period applies for pre-existing conditions for new Health Partners’ hospital policies, and upgrades to existing policies. The waiting period will apply if you have symptoms of COVID-19 before you take out or upgrade your policy, and you will not be able to claim for treatment.

If you already have a Hospital policy with Health Partners and have served your waiting periods, there are no extra waiting periods for claims relating to hospitalisation for COVID-19 treatment.

Yes. Telehealth appointments for physiotherapy, psychology, speech therapy, dietetics and exercise physiology via telehealth are covered with eligible extras, until further notice.

As a not-for-profit health fund we focus on giving back to our members in every possible way. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic we’ve worked hard to improve affordability and give back to our members when you needed it most, through:

  • Reduced premiums for all hospital covers and extras covers for 3 months between April-July 2020.
  • Postponing the April 2020 premium increase for 6 months to 1 October 2020.
  • Postponing the April 2021 premium increase for 3 months to 1 July 2021. Find out more about why premiums increase.
