The Australian Government Rebate on private health insurance is available on all health cover contributions to Australian residents depending on your annual income for Medicare Levy Surcharge purposes. This includes both Hospital and Extras Cover. Members are eligible for a specific Rebate Tier (percentage) based on age and annual income for Medicare Levy Surcharge purposes. These Rebate Tiers are listed in the Rebate Tier table below.
Receiving the rebate
You can automatically receive the rebate through reduced contributions by completing section 7 on the membership application form. Alternatively, you can receive the rebate when you lodge your tax return or as a cash payment at any Medicare office.
