Additional Information - Private Health Insurance

Please read all the details on this web site carefully. Contact us before commencing treatment to clarify eligibility for benefits. Health Partners covers are available to Australian residents who are eligible for full Medicare benefits.

The information in this web site is subject to change from time to time. Members will be notified of the changes, which will be binding on each member from the date specified in the notification.

Benefits and limits

  • Except where otherwise stated, benefit and limits are per person per calendar year
  • Benefits are only payable on services and goods provided by recognised providers within Australia
  • Once waiting periods have been served, members and registered dependents are eligible for all benefits on their chosen cover while contributions are up to date
  • Benefits must be claimed within 2 years from the date of service
  • Benefits for vaccination prescriptions are available when purchased at Health Partners participating pharmacies. A limited range of vaccinations are available at your GP, TMVC, Travel Bug or local council vaccination centre.
  • Members with both Hospital and Extras cover have an overall limit of $20,000 for Ambulance Cover
  • Dietary benefits are covered if it is an individual consultation by a registered provider
  • Benefits claimed through another source such as Work Cover, cannot be claimed again through Health Partners
  • Loyalty benefits are available in some areas of Health Partners covers. These benefits are based on the number of years of continuous membership with the nominated level of cover.  

Dependants

  • If you currently have a family membership, you can add your newborn within 60 days from their date of birth, with no waiting periods
  • If you have a single or couple membership and wish to add a newborn, you can transfer to a sole parent or family membership from the date of your child's birth. As long as you add your newborn within 60 days, with premiums paid from the date of birth, cover will be immediate with no waiting periods for your newborn.
  • Adopted and foster children may be added within 60 days of obtaining legal guardianship to avoid the 2 month waiting period for hospital treatment. Waiting periods apply for pre-existing conditions.
  • Benefits are payable for children of members who are registered as dependants with Health Partners up to the age of 18 years
  • Full-time students from 18th to their 25th birthday may also be registered as student dependants under their family membership at no extra cost
  • If a child ceases to be a student dependant he/she can join Health Partners or be included under the family membership with Family Focus up to their 25th birthday.

Overseas Travel

  • 20% savings on travel insurance when purchased through Health Partners. Call us or apply on line
  • You are able to suspend your private health cover while you are overseas for a minimum of three weeks and a maximum of 2 years. Please contact us if you would like to suspend your cover but will be overseas for more than 2 years. The 1% Medicare Levy Surcharge may apply for the period that hospital cover is suspended. Please phone us for more details
  • You can obtain benefits for a range of vaccinations from: your local GP; Travellers Medical and Vaccination Centre, 27-29 Gilbert Place, Adelaide, ph (08) 8212 7522; and Travel Bug Medical and Vaccination Centre, 182 Ward Street, North Adelaide, ph (08) 8267 3544.
  • Health Partners benefits are not available overseas.

Review Period

  • If you are not satisfied with your cover we will refund your contributions in full, provided it is within 30 days of joining and no claims have been made.

Your Choice

  • Health Partners respects and encourages individual members' choices when it comes to selecting the type of treatment/practitioner for their health needs. Provider registration is not to be taken as Health Partners’ endorsement or recommendation of any particular service, treatment or practitioner.
