Private and Public Hospitals
You are covered in your choice of participating private or public hospitals Australia-wide, for all medically-necessary admissions. This includes 100% cover for the following in-hospital services:
- Same-day and overnight accommodation
- Operating theatre, labour ward and special unit care
- All prescriptions covered by the Government Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme prescribed and used in hospital for treatment directly related to the hospital admission
- An extensive range of Government-recognised surgically implanted prostheses.
Restrictions may apply for procedures such as cosmetic surgery (please contact us for more information).
We recommend that you contact us prior to your admission to ensure that you receive the highest possible benefits and avoid any unexpected gaps. Participating private hospitals are hospitals which have an agreement with Health Partners. This ensures you receive quality benefits and services at most hospitals Australia-wide. Top Cover
Health Partners Gold Hospital Cover will cover you for conditions where a Medicare rebate applies including pregnancy, knee reconstructions and heart surgery.
Full Ambulance Cover
As a Health Partners Hospital member you receive full ambulance cover including:
- Emergency and non-emergency
- Australia-wide coverage
- Road and air ambulance services
- Every service required on medical grounds (excludes clinic-car type transport)
Limit $20,000.
Additional Benefits
- Home nursing benefits up to $85 per person per day — $5,500 limit
- 100% for all discharge pharmaceutical prescriptions approved by the fund for benefits — $1,500 limit
- 75% of the fee charged for non surgically implanted protheses and appliances such as mammary prostheses and prosthetic bras and wigs — $800 limit
- 75% of fee charged on purchase or hire of post-surgical recovery aids such as compression garments, braces and casts — $250 limit
- $50 benefit for home sleep studies when using a Health Partners Participating Provider — $100 limit.
Newborn Support Program
Gold Hospital Cover provides you with free support from qualified midwives during pregnancy and the first year of your baby's life. This program gives you the opportunity to look after the health of both you and your baby, offering advice and support in areas such as high blood pressure during pregnancy, breast feeding, sleeping and advice on solids after birth. Support is available via email and phone, along with extensive information available online at any time.

Extras Cover is required for in-hospital services such as dental, physiotherapy, dietary and podiatry.
What you are not covered for
Benefits towards:
- medical fees charged in excess of the Medicare Scheduled Fee unless your doctor is participating in Access Gap Cover
- X-rays, unregistered day facilities, MRI services and emergency department facility fees if you are not an in-patient.
Restrictions
Restricted benefits apply which may result in large out-of-pocket expenses for cosmetic surgery, laser eye surgery and any other admission where a Medicare rebate does not apply to the treatment procedures. Benefits paid are in accordance with the Federal Government default payment schedule.
Members who have been in hospital for more than 35 dyas and have been reclassified as Nursing-Home Type Patients are required by law to make a significant contribution to hospital charges.

Gold Hospital Cover: Top hospital accommodation with no excess or co-payment.
Gold Hospital Cover 25: Top hospital accommodation with a daily $25 co-payment to reduce your contribution rates.
Gold Hospital Cover 50: Top hospital accommodation with a daily $50 co-payment to reduce your contribution rates.
