The Australian Government has proposed changes to both the Private Health Insurance Rebate, and the Medicare Levy Surcharge (MLS), as part of the 2009-2010 Federal Budget. Whilst it is important for all of us to take time to analyse what the Government is proposing, any changes that are approved will not come into effect until 1 July 2010.
In the meantime, we can confirm that the proposal to means test the Private Health Insurance Rebate and the MLS, will not affect singles earning $75,000 or less per year and couples/families earning $150,000 or less per year.
Health Partners is committed to providing members with choice, access and information when it comes to their health care. We will keep members updated once details relating to the implementation of any changes are confirmed.
